1. Who we are

1.1       Canine Caregivers Pty Ltd (ABN 39 670 538 655) operates the Canine Caregivers online membership and course platform. It is run by its co-founders, Ian Shivers and Dominique Hone, who are the only people who handle Members' personal information on our behalf.

1.2       As a small business we are not currently required by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) to comply with the Australian Privacy Principles, but we choose to handle your personal information in accordance with them.

1.3       Bondi Behaviourist (Ian Shivers, sole trader) and TRACE are a separate business with its own Privacy Policy at bondibehaviourist.com/privacy-policy. Clause 5 explains what we exchange with Bondi Behaviourist.

1.4 The Dog Behavioural Trainer Pty Ltd are a separate business with its own Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions. Clause 5 explains what we exchange with The Dog Behavioural Trainer Pty Ltd.

2. What we collect and how

2.1       Account and Membership: name, email address, password (stored hashed by our platform), Membership type, start and renewal dates, payment status.

2.2       Payment: processed by Stripe. We see the card type, last four digits, amount and status; we never see or store your full card number.

2.3       Community and messages: anything you post in the Community, and your direct messages to Ian and Dom, which may include information about you, your household and your dog.

2.4       Consultation package: if you buy the Consultation + Membership Package, Bondi Behaviourist collects your questionnaire and consultation information under its own policy; we hold only your booking status.

2.6       Usage: which courses and webinars you open, progress, and technical data (IP address, device, browser, pages visited) collected by our platform and analytics cookies.

2.7       Marketing preferences and email engagement (opens and clicks) if you have opted in.

2.8       From Bondi Behaviourist: where your Bondi Behaviourist purchase includes Membership, your name, email address, the entitlement purchased and its start date; and confirmation that your TRACE account is active.

2.9 From The Dog Behavioural Trainer Pty Ltd: where your The Dog Behavioural Trainer Pty Ltd purchase includes Membership, your name, email address, the entitlement purchased and its start date; and confirmation that your TRACE account is active.

2.9.1       Required information is your name, email address and payment details. Everything you post or message is at your discretion. Do not post sensitive information about people, or other people's personal information without their consent.

3. Why we use it

3.1       To create and manage your account and Membership, take payment, deliver Content, run the Community and respond to your messages.

3.2       To provision TRACE access with Bondi Behaviourist (clause 5).

3.3       To send service messages about your Membership and, only if you have opted in, our newsletter and marketing.

3.4       To understand which Content is used and improve the platform, using aggregated or de-identified data where possible.

3.5       To moderate the Community and enforce our Terms, meet legal obligations and resolve disputes.

3.6       We do not use your Community posts or messages in courses, webinars, marketing or any other material without your separate consent.

4.1       Overseas disclosure. Our platform, payment and video providers store or process information outside Australia, principally in the United States, where privacy law differs from Australian law. By creating an account you consent to this. We choose providers with published privacy commitments and limit what we send them to what is needed.

4.2       We may disclose information where required by law, a court order or a regulator, or to protect someone's safety.

4.3       We do not sell personal information. Member discounts from third parties are provided by linking you to the third party; we do not send them your details and they do not send us yours.

5. Bondi Behaviourist and TRACE

5.1       Canine Caregivers and Bondi Behaviourist are separate businesses that share a co-founder. Each is responsible for the information it holds under its own policy.

5.2       Membership included in a Bondi Behaviourist purchase. Bondi Behaviourist gives us your name, email address, the entitlement purchased and its start date so we can create your Membership. From that point we hold that information under this Policy.

5.3       TRACE included in your Membership. We give Bondi Behaviourist your name, email address and Membership status so it can provision your TRACE account and switch it off when your Membership ends. Your TRACE conversations are held by Bondi Behaviourist and Delphi under the Bondi Behaviourist Privacy Policy; we do not see them.

5.4       Consultation + Membership Package. Your consultation is delivered by Bondi Behaviourist, which collects your questionnaire and consultation information under its own policy. We hold only your booking status.

5.5       Shared access. Ian Shivers has access to both businesses' systems. He uses information from one business for the other only for the purposes in clauses 5.2 to 5.4.

6. Dog Behavioural Trainer Pty Ltd

6.1       Canine Caregivers and Dog Behavioural Trainer Pty Ltd are separate businesses that share a co-founder. Each is responsible for the information it holds under its own policy.

6.2       Membership included in a Dog Behavioural Trainer Pty Ltd purchase. Dog Behavioural Trainer Pty Ltd gives us your name, email address, the entitlement purchased and its start date so we can create your Membership. From that point we hold that information under this Policy.

6.3       Consultation + Membership Package. Your consultation is delivered by Dog Behavioural Trainer Pty Ltd, which collects your questionnaire and consultation information under its own policy. We hold only your booking status.

6.4       Shared access. Dog Behavioural Trainer Pty Ltd has access to both businesses' systems. It uses information from one business for the other only for the purposes in clauses 5.2 to 5.4.

7. Storage, security and retention

7.1       Information is stored in the systems of the providers in clause 4, protected by passwords and two-factor authentication where available, with access limited to Ian Shivers and Dominique Hone.

7.2       We keep account and payment records for 7 years after your Membership ends for tax and legal purposes. Community posts remain in the Community unless you delete them or ask us to. Your direct messages with Ian and Dom are deleted when your Membership ends. Marketing data is kept until you unsubscribe and then suppressed.

7.3       If we become aware of a data breach likely to cause serious harm, we will notify affected people and, where required, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as soon as practicable.

8. Your rights

8.1       You may ask to access, correct or delete your personal information, or withdraw a consent, by emailing hello@caninecaregivers.com.au. We respond within 30 days and may need to verify your identity. We may retain information we are legally required to keep.

8.2       You can unsubscribe from marketing using the link in any email or by emailing us; requests are actioned within five business days.

9. Cookies

9.1       Our website and platform use cookies for login, preferences and analytics. You can control cookies in your browser; the platform may not work without functional cookies.

10. Complaints and changes

10.1       Privacy complaints: email hello@caninecaregivers.com.au. We acknowledge within two business days and aim to resolve within 30 days. If you are not satisfied you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or 1300 363 992.

10.2       We may update this Policy. The current version is at caninecaregivers.com.au/privacy-policy with its effective date. Material changes affecting current Members are emailed before they take effect.
